„Hella Occupy!“: Analyses, Reportbacks and Histories of the Oakland Commune

A chronological survey of some of the main events of oakland encampment, as well as an overview of social, historical and economic contexts and more recent struggles preceding the movement, by several participants. The presentation will attempt to give some analysis around political conflicts within the movement, the role of race and hatred of police, gender and autonomous organizing, and highlighting what particular aspects made the Oakland commune a distinctive example in the occupy movement.
